Sexual Health Clinic in Melbourne

All GPs at Yarra Medical are trained in sexual health and can advise you on prevention, detection and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in a discreet and professional manner. Standard GP consults of 10-15min apply for all initial sexual health assessments. However, if you require blood tests or further treatment, you may need to set aside up to 30 minutes for your visit. For a full listing of our consult fees, please visit our fees page.

Chlamydia Screening

Women with untreated chlamydia infections have an increased rate of infertility. Currently, the Royal Australian College of GPs recommends screening for chlamydia infection in all sexually active people aged 15–29 years every 12 months. Patients with a change in sexual partners should be screened more frequently. For more information on chlamydia, please speak to one of our GPs at Yarra Medical.

Men who have sex with men

Men who have sex with men (MSM) should be screened for gonorrhoea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV every 12 months. Men who have multiple sexual contacts should be screened more often. Most MSM with STIs have no symptoms. Screening for hepatitis C should be provided for patients that are HIV positive or with a history of intravenous drug use.

PrEP Treatment

PrEP treatment is now available from all GPs at Yarra Medical.

Sex Workers STI Testing

Yarra Medical offers the full range of STI screening for sex workers as well as appropriate documentation and certificates of STI screening.

STI screening swabs and urine testing can be completed at anytime. We stock most drug treatments on site for common STIs as well.

Sexual Health Clinic Melbourne

When you arrive for your STI check, our doctors will ask you a series of sexual health questions to establish your risk of sexually transmitted infections. It helps to determine what tests you require. Our GPs can order most tests and treat most infections at the clinic.
